What
do you mean that your music is upbeat, upscale and unique?
1.
What kind of music do you offer?
I play upscale
music. No matter what the category, what I mean by upscale music
is my philosophy that music should never sound like noise.
Music should convey emotions, mood and atmosphere. Categories
are classical, jazz, ragtime or popular. For examples see
Listen To Us.

11.
What is a special request and what does it involve?
If you want special
music, accompaniment, special sounds, that would constitute a
special request. If your request involves a minimal amount
of my time and energy, then I would charge minimally or not at
all. If, your request requires more of my time and resources to
accommodate, then I would have to consider some additional
charge. The amount of notice given factors into extra charges.

12.
Why is the choice, and delivery of music, one of the most
important decisions you will make for your upcoming affair?
Music permeates all
aspects of our lives. Music sets a mood or an emotional state
unlike any other medium that we know. As an example, think of
motion films that you know and love. Can you imagine the film
‘Love Story’ or the ‘Godfather’ or any film you know without
music? What would that film “look” like? How would that change
your experience of the film? Music for films is required to be
appropriate, complimentary and specific to the mood and subject
matter being portrayed. That is why Hollywood awards Oscars for
music.

13.
You specialize in stride. What is it?
Stride has often
been incorrectly characterized as fast ragtime or worse,
associated with the old-time "silent movie music" cliché. In
actuality, the expressive range of stride is much wider, and
includes an introspective side often marked by a strong blues
feeling. One of the most demanding and interesting jazz piano
styles, Stride acted as a link between the ragtime and blues
styles and the Swing pianists of the 1930s. It stepped out from
the long black musical tradition of Eastern Ragtime. Stride
Piano flourished mainly in Harlem during the 1920s and the
1930s.

14. What do you mean that your music is
upbeat, upscale and unique?
By upbeat I am referring to the fact that a good portion
of the early jazz (stride) and ragtime that we play has to be
some of the happiest music in existence. Upscale means that the
music is well thought out and bears proportion and aesthetics
that guarantee that it doesn't sound like noise. And by unique,
I am referring to the fact that some of this music, especially
the stride, has been underrepresented or not represented at all
by most jazz musicians. I have made it my specialty because I
enjoy it and my listeners love hearing it..
